Lapel Bulldogs Varsity Wins Back-And-Forth Affair Against Muncie Central

Lapel Bulldogs Varsity and Muncie Central traded the lead back-and-forth on Thursday, but eventually Lapel Bulldogs Varsity prevailed 8-7. Lapel Bulldogs Varsity took the lead for good in the seventh inning. The game was tied at six with Lapel Bulldogs Varsity batting in the top of the seventh when Jaren Cravens singled off of Garret, driving in one run.

Lapel Bulldogs Varsity earned the victory despite allowing Muncie Central to score four runs in the fourth inning. Muncie Central’s big inning was driven by a single by Clark, a wild pitch , a single by Rodgers, and a single by Garret.

Jaren Cravens earned the win for Lapel Bulldogs Varsity. He threw one and one-third innings, giving up one run, one hit, striking out two, and walking zero. Cleaves took the loss for Muncie Central. He tossed one-third of an inning, giving up five runs, one hit, and striking out one.

Clark started the game for Muncie Central. He pitched six innings, surrendering two runs, six hits, and striking out eight. Dustin Dowden started the game for Lapel Bulldogs Varsity. He tossed five and two-thirds innings, surrendering six runs, nine hits, and striking out two.

Lapel Bulldogs Varsity had eight hits in the game. Levi Frasier and Caden Shirley each collected multiple hits for Lapel Bulldogs Varsity. Seth Baugh, Cravens, Satchell Wilson, Frasier, and Cameron Holycross each drove in one run to lead Lapel Bulldogs Varsity.

Muncie Central collected ten hits. Clark, Rodgers, Davis, and Cleaves each collected multiple hits for Muncie Central.

Lapel Bulldogs Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 3-2 loss to Daleville on Monday. Daleville scored on a walk by Grant Boles in the second inning.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Daleville pitchers struck out two, while Lapel Bulldogs Varsity sat down six

Evan Etchison earned the win for Daleville. He went seven innings, giving up two runs, three hits, and striking out two. Seth Baugh took the loss for Lapel Bulldogs Varsity. He tossed two innings, giving up two runs, zero hits, striking out three, and walking one.

Dustin Dowden, Cameron Holycross, and John Sherwood each managed one hit to lead Lapel Bulldogs Varsity.

Meet Recap

The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Tipton and defeated the Lady Blue Devils by a score of 4-1. Lauren Benagh and Maddie Shannon were first off the courts once again, setting the tone for the match win quick victories. The 2 doubles combo of Emily Eppert and Alyssa Whaley clinched the match moments later.

The JV also won in dominating fashion, scoring a 7-2 victory. The ladies will travel tomorrow to face Noblesville, weather permitting. Results are listed below.

The Lady Bulldogs bounced back from Monday night’s loss with a 4 to 1 win over Triton Central. Maddie Shannon and Lauren Benagh were the first two off the courts, winning in convincing fashion. The 2 dubs team of Makena Mason and Zoe Freer sealed the victory with a 3 set win. 1 dubs duo of Emma Bush and Tonya Riffey also won an exciting match, capping the evening with a 3 set, 10-8 tiebreaker victory.

The JV also came away victorious with a 5 to 0 victory. Results are listed below.

The Lady Bulldogs started off the week with a tough 3-2 against Pendleton Heights on Monday. Lauren Benagh at 2 singles and the 1 doubles combo of Tonya Riffey and Emma Bush were the two victorious points.

The Junior Varsity squad put together a solid performance, defeating the Lady Arabians by a 9-4 score. Singles winners were Zoe Freer, Courtney Buck, Lauren Lutz, Sydni Marshall and Nicole Flora. Doubles winners include the teams of Hannah Chinn + Mallory Jessup, Makena Mason + Zoe Freer, Jenna Kelly + Kennedy Young, Lauren Lutz + Sydni Marshall. Results are listed below.

Game Recap

Even though Lapel Bulldogs Varsity and Frankton both had their opportunities, it was Frankton that eventually prevailed 12-7 on Friday.

The game was tied at two with Frankton batting in the top of the fourth when Delong singled off of Cameron Holycross, driving in one run.
Despite the loss, Lapel Bulldogs Varsity did collect 12 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Frankton had nine hits on the way to victory.

Frankton captured the lead in the first inning. Harris grounded out, scoring one run.
Frankton took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Cameron Holycross uncorked a wild pitch, scoring one run and Doan doubled off of Holycross, driving in one run.

Frankton scored five runs in the seventh inning. The big inning for Frankton came thanks to a single by Delong, a double by Doan, a double by Weins, and a single by Love.
Doan earned the win for Frankton. He pitched four innings, giving up three runs, eight hits, striking out three, and walking one. Dellinger threw two innings, as two relievers helped Frankton finish off the victory. Holycross took the loss for Lapel Bulldogs Varsity. He threw four innings, surrendering four runs, three hits, and striking out two.

John Sherwood, Levi Frasier, Caden Shirley, Dustin Dowden, and Mason Gilley each collected multiple hits for Lapel Bulldogs Varsity. Gilley, Dowden, Shirley, Frasier, and Sherwood each managed two hits to lead Lapel Bulldogs Varsity.

Doan and Delong each collected multiple hits for Frankton. Doan went 3-for-3 at the plate as he led the team with three runs batted in.
