It seems like when the Bulldogs and Tigers get together on the courts, it results in some classic matches that are extremely close. This years sectional match followed the same script. Luckily on this evening, the Bulldogs were able to pull out the 3-2 victory.
Jesse McCurdy set the tone, winning his match 6-1,6-0. At 3 singles, freshman Asher Evelo came up with a huge victory to get the Bulldogs its second point. Jake Eppert and the dubs team of Cam Gooding and Trevor Whaley fell in their matches but had good stretches of play.
That left all eyes on 1 doubles. After winning the first set 6-1 and up 4-0 in the second set, Alexandria roared back and won the second set tiebreaker 7-5. The third set once again saw the Bulldogs race to a big lead, only to see it slip away. Finally, Nick Thalls abs Corbin Renihan were able to finish off the third, winning 7-5 and securing the third point for the victory.
The Bulldogs will now face the Anderson Indians tomorrow evening at Highland middle school. First serve is at 4:30. Go Bulldogs!!
